Cafe BJJ #1: The Remembering

Many people see a prophet differently than me. They often see it as someone who can predict the future. I see it as someone who brings you back on your proper path in life. I have a handful of activities that I love to do, but with all the distractions of modern society, it can be easy to engage your attention to matters that you do not care for as much.

We spend a lot of time online nowadays, so much so, that we often forget that knowledge exists outside of our digital senses.

What do I mean by that?

I mean, there are things to learn about yourself and the world that requires a physical grasp of your attention. When you remember how good it feels to laugh within the physical space of your best friends, it’s not that you solely recall the information mentally, you remember in conjunction with the physical laughter of your body while feeling the energy of the humorous source. To truly remember is to re-become a member of the experience. To be in the moment truthfully.

For this reason, I would like to thank my good friend and family member F, for inviting me out to a wonderful fundraising seminar at Berks BJJ that included Jon “Thor” Blank as an instructor. It had been almost a whole year since I trained in Jiu-Jitsu at the legendary York BJJ. I had forgotten what it felt like to be absorbed in a creative battle with another individual.

I am back on the BJJ path in life and I am grateful and excited to see where it takes me. Consider this journal an exploration of Jiu-Jitsu through the lens of a caffeinated lover of wisdom. BJJ is the Way.
